Young Women’s Leadership Network
www.ywlnetwork.com
The YWL Network is at the forefront of the nation’s school reform movement and is one of the most important forces in creating choice for students in urban public school systems. YWL Network partners with school districts, parents and community leaders to create single-gender public schools and college access programs across the country. We are in the business of raising expectations, improving student performance, and inspiring leadership. Since 1996, we have been opening girls’ public schools that offer single-gender college prep education to inner city students. Our first school, which made history and headlines, is the highly renowned and successful Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem in New York City. All of our schools are available to ordinary students who have a desire to achieve.

A second school, the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders in Austin, Texas opened in August 2007. The Foundation's next two schools opened August 2008 in San Antonio and Lubbock. Urban Prep Academies
www.urbanprep.org
Urban Prep Academies is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002 by a group of African-American education, business and civic leaders. Combined, this group has over 200 years of experience at urban and suburban, parochial and public elementary and high schools as well as at community colleges and major universities. Urban Prep was born out of this group’s experience working with and supporting an independent high school serving young African-American men. The success there inspired the group to replicate and augment the model in a public school setting by founding Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men - Englewood Campus.
Girls Preparatory Charter School

Our mission is to prepare New York City's girls to enter and succeed in academically competitive high schools of their choice. We do this by providing a rigorous education that nurtures the gifts of each girl in a single-sex environment.
Girls Prep opened in September 2005 with 90 girls in Kindergarten and First Grade. We welcome 50 new Kindergarteners each year, and will serve 230 students, K-4, during the 2008-2009 school year. By Fall 2009, we will serve grades K-5.
