The First National Conference on Single-Sex Public Schools

Last October, over 200 teachers, administrators and researchers gathered at the National Conference on Single-Sex Public Schools (NCSSPS) in Philadelphia to share their passion, practice and perspective on the single-sex public schools movement.  Our group represented seventy-two different organizations from New York to Oregon.

The primary goal in putting this conference together was to give educators in single-sex public schools the opportunity to get to know their peers in other schools across the country.  We also wanted to promote practices that have proven effective in boys and girls schools, public and private.  Finally, we wanted to give voice to the teachers and administrators working and struggling in single-sex public schools every day.

“I was inspired. This conference made me realize that I am part of a movement that is on the cutting edge of educational reform in America.”   2008 Conference Participant
